I recommend starting at this type of position any time of year that isn't the summer. I only say this because it is Arizona summer heat, and one month of the summer is spent heavily working outside.

Sales Associate Intern

June - July 2020 • Dallas, TX

What I liked

My internship was with Alliance Residential and merged with Greystar over the course of my summer internship. The people at these companies are outstanding professionals. The internship program is well-structured and interactive - I got to meet professionals and fellow interns across the nation. The internship is super fun and you will learn a lot working in the apartment industry. There is an excellent bonus structure which interns are eligible to earn, as well.

Leasing Professional

May 2019 • Tuscaloosa, AL

What I liked

I liked that I had autonomy to do my job. Some jobs I feel mirco-managed, but here I felt like I could do what I neeed to do without having to constantly ask for permission.

What I wish was different

Greystar may be too big because getting things through corporate takes a long time. It makes it difficult to process things which frustrates those who need refunds, gift cards, or anything that requires corporate permission.

Advice

Any job you look for needs that balance of autonomy and structure. Where you can work with given goals without having to ask for permission for each action. I would advise people who are looking to work in a young environment and be able to gain good experience working with a large company go here.
